Cameroon to promote fruits and vegetables at MACFRUT trade fair in Italy

Cameroon will present its fruits and vegetables to global buyers at MACFRUT 2026 in Italy as the country seeks new export partners.

CAMEROON – Cameroon will take part in the 43rd edition of MACFRUT, a global trade fair for fruits and vegetables set for April 21 to April 23, 2026 in Rimini, Italy.

Officials say the event will help local producers meet foreign buyers and seek partners in packaging, processing, and finance.

The announcement came during a press briefing at the conference hall of the Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Forestry. Officials also shared updates on preparations for the Cameroonian delegation.

CAPEF Secretary General Tanyi Jacob Tachot led the meeting, which brought together business leaders, journalists, and representatives from Gabon, the Central African Republic, and Chad. Organizers expect thousands of exhibitors and more than 50,000 visitors at the trade fair. The event will give Central African producers a chance to present their products and hold talks with buyers and investors.

Preparations already include the booking of a 64 square metre exhibition stand for the Central African delegation. Officials also continue to mobilize producers and exporters who want to take part in the event.

Focus on quality, packaging, and logistics

Officials said product quality remains a key concern for the delegation. Producers selected for the fair will present goods that meet global standards. Many of them already use organic inputs supplied by Italian partners.

Participants also raised concerns about packaging. Industry actors noted that the country still trails behind some competitors in packaging technology. They expect the trade fair to help them meet companies that provide modern packaging and processing solutions.

Logistics also remains a major concern for exporters. Some operators asked the government to increase support, especially with transport costs and market access.

Promoting Cameroonian products abroad

Tanyi Jacob Tachot said the initiative supports CAPEF’s goal to promote products made in Cameroon both locally and abroad.

“One of our missions is to promote the ‘Made in Cameroon’ brand both at home and abroad. This fruit and vegetable fair in Italy is a key platform and this year we have mobilized many participants to showcase our products,” he said.

He added that producers will also use the event to meet partners who can support packaging, processing, and finance for agricultural projects.

The 2026 edition of the trade fair will also host a symposium on agriculture, food security, rural migration, and irregular migration in Central Africa. Organizers say the discussions will highlight how agriculture can help address economic pressure in rural areas.

According to CAPEF, producers and businesses that want to join the delegation can contact the organization for further details.
