Global farmer leaders from over 65 countries will gather in Nairobi in 2026 to discuss investment, food security and fair farm incomes.

KENYA – Kenya will host the 2026 Annual Meeting of the World Farmers’ Organisation, marking a major step for the country’s farm sector and its role in global talks on food and agriculture.
The Kenya National Farmers’ Federation and the World Farmers’ Organisation met officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development to move plans forward for the 2026 meeting.
Leaders confirmed that Nairobi will host the global event under the theme Future Fields Investing in Farmers’ Organisations and Empowering Communities for Sustainable Agriculture.
Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe welcomed the announcement and said the event reflects Kenya’s strong farm sector.
“It is a great honour for Kenya and a recognition of our farmers’ central role in driving food security and economic transformation,” Kagwe said during the meeting.
KENAFF CEO Dr. Daniel Mwendah M’Mailutha attended the meeting alongside board members including National Chairman Mr. Kaburu M Ribu, Secretary General Mr. Luke Kipkemei and Mr. Peter King’aiya Gikonyo, Chairperson of the Kenya Coffee Producers Association.
The 2026 meeting will bring together farmer leaders from more than 65 countries. Organisers expect discussions to focus on youth in agriculture, digital tools, soil health, fair global trade and access to finance for farmers. Delegates will also visit farms across Kenya to see local production systems first hand.
WFO Secretary General Andrea Porro stressed the need to direct funding to farmers. “The annual meeting is a farmer led global platform where policy discussions draw directly from members’ real experiences,” he said.
He added, “Farmers are still not sufficiently reached by financing. Without making sure farmers receive a living wage, we cannot discuss sustainability. Farming is a profession that must offer respectable livelihoods.”
