New sustainable tractor technologies take center stage in Nagpur.

INDIA – Mahindra & Mahindra showcased a range of alternate fuel tractors and technologies at Agrovision 2025 in Nagpur, underlining its commitment to sustainable agriculture.
The event was attended by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Cabinet Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Cabinet Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development.
Mahindra presented several innovations designed to reduce emissions and lower operating costs for farmers. The new CNG/CBG tractor, built on the Yuvo Tech+ platform, operates on both compressed natural gas and compressed biogas while also offering a dual-fuel diesel-CNG option.
“Mahindra is committed to leading India’s shift to alternate fuel technologies and driving cleaner, smarter, and sustainable farming solutions,” said Mr. Veejay Nakra, President of the Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
“Our presence at Agrovision 2025 underscores this commitment as we showcase innovative tractors and technologies that will shape the future of Indian agriculture, aligned with the Government of India’s vision toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.”
Mahindra also unveiled its Ethanol Flex Fuel Tractor Engine. This engine runs on ethanol sourced from sugarcane, maize, plant stubble, crop waste, and other farm-based materials. The company said this technology lowers emissions and gives farmers flexibility in fuel choice while promoting local energy independence.
The electric tractor on display, built on Mahindra’s global lightweight OJA platform, offers fast charging and high torque delivery. It aims to reduce operating costs and provide a reliable, smooth experience for multiple farming applications.
Long-term commitment to cleaner agriculture
These innovations were developed at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, drawing on decades of the company’s engine technology expertise. The company continues to expand its alternate fuel offerings, emphasizing diesel-powered 2WD and 4WD tractors, as well as Swaraj brand farm implements.
“Achieving net-zero emissions requires embracing alternate fuel technologies like CNG, electric, CBG, ethanol, biofuel, and isobutyl,” Mr. Nakra added. “These solutions can create a sustainable pathway to support farmers and protect the environment for future generations.”
Mahindra’s presence at Agrovision 2025 also highlighted the company’s broader role in promoting accessible mechanization solutions across India. The firm has consistently introduced tractors and farm equipment designed to reduce emissions and improve efficiency, supporting both economic and environmental goals.
