The partnership aims to improve crop yields, soil health, and water efficiency through technology, training, and responsible investment.

SAUDI ARABIA – The Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) and Syngenta Group have formed a strategic partnership to promote sustainable farming and strengthen global food security.
The agreement combines Syngenta’s expertise in agricultural technology with SALIC’s investment strength to enhance crop yields, improve soil health, and manage water resources efficiently.
Both companies share a goal of building stronger, climate-resilient food systems while supporting farmers around the world.
The two organisations signed a Letter of Intent in Basel, Switzerland, outlining plans to advance sustainability and innovation in the agri-food sector. Their joint work will focus on areas such as soil health, digital agriculture, and crop protection.
They also plan to train farmers, share technology, and increase access to advanced agricultural inputs.
Planned initiatives include climate-smart farming, sustainable water management, and research into new seed and crop technologies. The partners also aim to set up centres of excellence that will support knowledge exchange and promote best practices across regions.
Founded in 2012, SALIC is a key part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy. The company invests globally across the agricultural value chain, covering grains, livestock, food processing, and agri-tech. Its work focuses on building reliable food supply networks that ensure food access for both local and global markets.

Suliman Al-Rumeih, Group CEO of SALIC, said the partnership marked a major step toward responsible innovation. “This partnership with Syngenta demonstrates SALIC’s dedication to sustainability and international collaboration,” he said.
“By merging technology, expertise, and ethical farming practices, we aim to empower farmers, preserve natural resources, and strengthen global food systems.”
Syngenta, which operates in more than 90 countries, is known for its research in crop science and its mission to help farmers grow healthier plants.
Alexander Berkovskiy, Regional Director for AMEA at Syngenta, said the collaboration would drive change in global agriculture. “Together, we will drive transformation in agriculture building resilient systems through innovation, education, and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring food that is safe, nutritious, and affordable for all,” he said.
This alliance reflects a growing trend of public and private organisations working together to address food security challenges. It also aligns with global goals on sustainability and responsible resource management.
By combining investment and innovation, SALIC and Syngenta plan to build systems that support both smallholders and large producers.
Their partnership underscores a shared belief that sustainable farming is key to feeding the world’s growing population. As Al-Rumeih noted, “Empowering farmers is the foundation for a secure and sustainable food future.”
