Omer-Decugis & Cie secures full ownership of Vergers du Bandama to strengthen its mango supply chain in West Africa.

WEST AFRICA – Omer-Decugis & Cie has expanded its footprint in West Africa by acquiring the Ivorian mango export company Vergers du Bandama, marking a significant step in the group’s efforts to increase control over upstream sourcing.
Vergers du Bandama, located in Sinématiali in the Poro region of northern Ivory Coast, has partnered with Omer-Decugis & Cie for several years. The company focuses on producing, packing, and exporting fresh mangoes and exported over 1,500 tons to French and European markets in 2025.
Established in 2010, Vergers du Bandama has earned recognition in West Africa and holds certifications such as Global G.A.P, Rainforest Alliance, and Amfori BSCI level A.
“This acquisition strengthens our position in the West African mango supply chain and supports our strategy of increasing oversight of upstream sourcing,” said Vincent Omer-Decugis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Omer-Decugis & Cie.
Through its subsidiary SIIM, the group has been active in mango production and export from Côte d’Ivoire for many years. It also maintains operations in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
During the African mango season, which runs from March to July, Omer-Decugis & Cie estimates it supplies about 30 per cent of the European market. In 2025, the company exported more than 13,000 tons of African mangoes by sea and 500 tons by air.
Supporting local employment and supply diversity
The mango sector in Côte d’Ivoire provides over 100,000 seasonal jobs, reflecting its importance to local economies. Outside the African season, Omer-Decugis & Cie sources mangoes from Spain, Israel, Brazil, and Peru, reaching a total annual supply of over 25,000 tons for European markets.
The acquisition was completed entirely with the group’s own funds. The previous owners of Vergers du Bandama will remain involved in management for the next two years to ensure a smooth transition.
“Our goal is to maintain the quality and continuity of operations while integrating the company fully into our network,” Omer-Decugis added.
The move comes amid growing interest in West African fruit exports. The company’s strategy highlights its commitment to strengthening supply chains while providing steady employment opportunities in the region.
Omer-Decugis & Cie plans to leverage the acquisition to reinforce its presence in Europe and ensure consistent supply throughout the year.
With the integration of Vergers du Bandama, the group aims to continue supplying high-quality mangoes while supporting sustainable practices across its West African operations.
