AD Ports Group names Jochen Thewes as new Logistics Cluster CEO

AD Ports Group brings in experienced global leader to guide its logistics growth.

UAE – AD Ports Group has named Jochen Thewes as the new CEO of its Logistics Cluster, starting 1 December 2025.

The move signals the Group’s plan to grow its logistics work at a steady pace while building on the global reach of Noatum Logistics.

Thewes joins the Abu Dhabi-based company after a long career in international logistics. He spent nearly ten years at the helm of DB Schenker as CEO and Management Board Chairman.

During his final full year in that role, DB Schenker recorded EUR 19.2 billion (approx US$20.6 billion) in revenue in 2024. He also played a central role when Deutsche Bahn sold DB Schenker to Denmark’s DSV A/S in April 2025, one of the largest deals in the industry.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, welcomed the appointment and said that Thewes brings strong leadership to the team.

“Jochen Thewes is a respected industry leader with a strong track record in international logistics. His experience will support the further development of our logistics activities and the next phase of growth for the Logistics Cluster.”

Thewes expressed confidence in the team he will lead. “I look forward to working with colleagues across the organisation to strengthen our logistics capabilities and support the Group’s broader global operations, building on the platform already provided by Noatum Logistics.”

Strong growth across AD Ports Group

AD Ports Group has expanded quickly in recent years. Between 2020 and 2024, the company recorded a fivefold rise in revenue and more than a fourfold rise in net profit.

The Group now runs 34 terminals, several economic zones and free zones, and more than 270 vessels, including what it calls the world’s largest independent feeder container shipping line.

The recent senior-level hiring aligns with the Group’s plan to bring in global talent as it widens its role in trade and logistics.

This appointment comes as the region continues to see strong logistics activity. Several operators aim to grow their networks as trade flows shift and demand for integrated services increases. AD Ports Group sees logistics as a key part of its long-term plan, and leaders within the company view Thewes’ entry as timely support for this direction.

The company also continues to add partnerships and strengthen its global footprint. Industry observers say that the Group’s recent steps show steady confidence in the logistics market and an interest in building more capacity across trade corridors.
