Bordeaux to host joint International Asparagus and Berries events in October 2025

Organisers say the four-day programme will bring together the entire supply chain for both crops.

FRANCE – Bordeaux will host International Asparagus Days (IAD) and International Berries Days (IBD) together from 7 to 10 October 2025, bringing producers, traders, researchers, and suppliers into one setting for technical visits, exhibitions, and conferences.

The organisers, Macfrut, Befve&Co, and Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine, say the two events align naturally. Many asparagus growers also produce berries, and the same suppliers and traders often work in both markets.

“The combined programme reflects the reality of our industries,” said the organising team. “Growers, marketers, and input suppliers often serve both crops, and they face similar production and market challenges.”

The events build on the success of five past editions of International Asparagus Days and the 2024 debut of International Berries Days. This year’s schedule starts on Tuesday, 7 October, with technical visits.

Asparagus-focused tours will take place in the Gironde region at Vignobles Bouillac and the Lebourg production site. Berry visits will run in Lot-et-Garonne, including stops at the St Armand and Fruits Rouges du Confluent nurseries and the Aquisol production site.

The trade show will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, 8–9 October, at Planasa in Bordeaux. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can attend field sessions on topics such as strawberry research, new asparagus varieties, and asparagus replanting, plus a visit to blueberry fields.

A conference titled What innovations to improve growers’ performance (in genetic and technical features)? will feature expert speakers from research and industry.

The final day, Friday, 10 October, will focus on berries in the Dordogne area. Delegates will visit the Technical Interprofessional Centre for Fruit and Vegetables in Lanxade, the Invenio experimental station, and the Teychennè family farm.

This announcement follows the strong showing of Macfrut 2025, held in Rimini from 6 to 8 May, which attracted 1,400 exhibitors and 1,500 top buyers from across the globe.

The event focused on business, networking, and knowledge, with highlights including the Biosolutions International Event and country pavilions from Egypt, Mali, Ghana, DRC, Tanzania, Iraq, and several Latin American nations.

Macfrut recorded a 6% increase in exhibition space and a 10% rise in attendance compared to the previous year, a trend that industry observers expect will carry into the Bordeaux gathering.

“We see a growing appetite for technical exchange and market connections across fresh produce sectors,” the organisers noted.
