Fendt rolls out fourth generation 1000 series at US farm show

The company highlights efficiency, technology and stronger performance in its newest range of large tractors.

USA – Fendt has launched the fourth generation of its 1000 series tractors at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, drawing strong interest from farmers and industry watchers.

The Fendt 1000 series remains the largest in the brand’s range, with models that stretch from 426hp to 550hp. The updated lineup includes the 1040, 1044, 1048 and 1052 models. All come with the latest six-cylinder 12.4L MAN engine, paired with the Fendt iD low-speed concept.

According to the company, this design delivers higher torque at lower revs, which improves fuel efficiency and reduces engine wear.

Maximum engine speed is set at 1,700 revolutions per minute, yet the system begins working from an idle of 650rpm. At just 1,450rpm, the tractors can reach a road speed of 31 miles per hour.

“These machines are built for heavy field and transport work but remain efficient on fuel,” a Fendt spokesperson said. “The combination of low revs and high torque makes a real difference in operating costs.”

Efficiency and handling

The new series also incorporates Fendt’s DynamicPerformance system, which directs extra horsepower to secondary power consumers such as air conditioning and hydraulic pumps. This differs from other boost systems that only channel additional power through the PTO.

Fendt has further emphasized efficiency with its concentric air system cooling concept. Each component of the cooling unit controls its cooling needs independently, which improves performance and reduces energy waste.

The narrower design also allows a higher steering angle, giving the tractors notable maneuverability despite their size.

Digital tools are part of the package as well. One option is PTx OutRun, which links with combines to manage grain carts and tillage equipment automatically.

Industry momentum ahead of Agritechnica

The launch of the Fendt 1000 series comes just days after Kverneland announced a new set of machines ahead of Agritechnica. Company leaders introduced the products to journalists in the Netherlands while outlining the firm’s role under the Kubota group.

Among the highlights were two variable chamber balers. “These new balers are designed to work in all environments,” a company spokesperson said. “The Tractor Implement Management system is a major advantage because it allows the tractor and baler to communicate directly.”

Kverneland also revealed the Arcadia Precision Harrow, a machine built for mechanical weed control. The company admitted that belt balers faced challenges in some regions in the past but argued that steady improvements now make them reliable for forage and other uses.

With both Fendt and Kverneland placing new products before the market, manufacturers are signaling their intent to meet rising farmer expectations and sharpen competitiveness ahead of this year’s Agritechnica.
