The company strengthens its leadership team while expanding its sourcing footprint in Southeast Asia.

USA – Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. has appointed Mohammed Abbas as its new President and Chief Operating Officer, signaling continuity in the company’s executive leadership.
Abbas, who has spent over two decades in senior roles across Fresh Del Monte’s global operations, will now oversee day-to-day operations and help guide the company’s strategic planning. “I am excited to continue working with the executive team to drive growth and operational efficiency across our global network,” Abbas said.
Abbas joined Fresh Del Monte in 2007 as General Manager of its first unit in the Middle East and North Africa region.
He later led Del Monte Saudi Arabia from 2009 to 2015 and held Vice President roles for the MENA region and Fresh Produce operations before becoming Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2022.
“This appointment reflects both his deep experience and our commitment to stable leadership as we manage complex global operations,” a company spokesperson added.
Abbas holds a Master of Science in Agribusiness from Purdue University and an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Expanding Sourcing in Southeast Asia
The leadership update comes as Fresh Del Monte continues to strengthen its supply chain in Southeast Asia. The company recently signed a long-term partnership with THACO Agri, the agricultural division of Vietnam’s THACO Group, to secure bananas and pineapples from Vietnam and Cambodia.
“This partnership represents an important step in securing a reliable supply of high-quality bananas and pineapples for our global customers,” said a Fresh Del Monte spokesperson. THACO Agri operates over 85,000 hectares across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, combining crop and livestock farming. The deal includes collaboration with THACO Industries to improve mechanization and efficiency in production.
“We look forward to working closely with Fresh Del Monte to enhance our production capabilities and efficiency,” a THACO Agri representative said.
Fresh Del Monte’s regional expansion strategy also includes new agreements with growers in the Philippines to support banana exports. “Our focus remains on building reliable partnerships that help us meet customer needs while maintaining high standards of quality and sustainability,” the spokesperson added.
The combined moves strengthen Fresh Del Monte’s global supply base and provide continuity in leadership as the company navigates growing demand for bananas and pineapples in international markets.
