The new product combines essential oils to help farmers improve soil health without relying on traditional fumigants.

USA – Kemin Industries has released RevoCURB™, a botanical-oil-based soil treatment that gives both organic and conventional farmers a safer, chemical-free way to manage soilborne pests and diseases.
The product is exempt under FIFRA 25(b) and has received OMRI-Listed® status, meaning it meets the strict standards required for organic production.
RevoCURB is made from four essential oils, thyme, clove, garlic, and cinnamon, and works as a nematicide, fungicide-bactericide, and herbicide. Growers can apply it either before planting or after harvest.
According to Dr. Bridget Hatfield, Technical Services Manager at Kemin Crop Technologies, the results in trials have been clear and promising.
“The introduction of RevoCURB is a game-changer for both organic and conventional growers with its unique formulation and multiple modes of action that ensure comprehensive pest control,” she said.
“We’ve tested RevoCURB on many different fields with various soil conditions, and we observed stunning improvement in crop yields compared to standard chemistry. We’re thrilled to offer a safe new tool for growers to integrate into their soil preparation program.”
Convenience and worker safety
One of RevoCURB’s key strengths is its ease of use and safety for workers. It does not require buffer zones, meaning farmers can apply it even near towns or densely populated areas.
Workers can also return to the field immediately after application, thanks to the product’s zero-hour restricted entry interval. It requires only minimal protective gear and can be applied through several methods, including drip tape, micro-sprinklers, soil drenches, and overhead irrigation.
Kemin says these features give growers more flexibility in their operations while reducing both time and cost.
A shift in soil management
“For years, soil fumigation has been the go-to solution for managing soilborne pests and diseases in specialty crops,” said Emily Fuerst, General Manager at Kemin Crop Technologies.
“However, growing environmental concerns, regulatory pressures, and the unique needs of organic farming are driving a shift toward safer, more sustainable alternatives.”
She added that organic growers often face long wait times and high costs when dealing with synthetic soil treatments.
“Organic growers, in particular, face significant hurdles in soil disinfestation due to the strict prohibition of synthetic chemicals, longer pre-planting timing, and expensive procedures. RevoCURB represents a significant advancement in soil health management.”
“By leveraging the power of essential oils and Kemin’s expertise on them, we are providing growers with a safer, more cost-effective and efficacious solution that meets the demands of modern agriculture.”
RevoCURB adds to Kemin’s growing range of crop protection and nutrition products. In recent months, the company has expanded its global research efforts and introduced more tools to support sustainable practices.
Kemin continues to focus on helping farmers increase productivity while meeting stricter safety and environmental guidelines.
