Mahindra Farm Equipment posts strong December tractor sales as domestic demand rises

Improved farm cash flow and better weather conditions supported higher tractor purchases in India during December 2025.

INDIA – Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Business reported solid growth in tractor sales in December 2025, supported by better farm incomes and steady planting activity across key regions.

The company sold 30,210 tractors in the domestic market during the month, compared with 22,019 units in December 2024.

This result marks a 37 percent year on year increase. Total tractor sales, including exports, reached 31,859 units, up from 22,943 units in the same period last year.

Domestic market drives growth

Strong domestic demand remained the main driver of December performance. Farmers increased purchases as cash flow in rural areas improved after the Kharif harvest. Favorable weather conditions and healthy reservoir levels also encouraged higher Rabi sowing acreage, which supported machinery demand.

Commenting on the results, Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business, said, “We have sold 30,210 tractors in the domestic market during December 2025, a growth of 37% over last year. Cash flow availability in the market has improved supported by favorable crop yields following the Kharif harvest.”

He added that current field conditions point to continued demand in the near term. “Additionally, conducive weather conditions and healthy reservoir levels have contributed to increase in Rabi sowing acreage, which is expected to sustain tractor demand in the coming months,” Nakra said.

Export sales show sharp rise

Export performance also strengthened during the month. Mahindra sold 1,649 tractors overseas in December 2025, compared with 924 units a year earlier. This represents a 78 percent increase.

Nakra noted the strong export showing in his comments, saying, “In the exports market, we have sold 1,649 tractors, a growth of 78% over last year.”

On a year to date basis through December 2025, Mahindra sold 391,890 tractors in the domestic market, up 21 percent from the same period in the previous year. Export volumes for the same period reached 14,702 units, reflecting 20 percent growth. Total tractor sales for the nine month period stood at 406,592 units.

Broader outlook

Founded in 1945, the Mahindra Group operates across farm equipment, vehicles, technology, financial services, energy, logistics, hospitality, and real estate. The group remains the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume.

Recent sales results reflect stable farm activity and steady equipment demand as farmers prepare for the current cropping season. With planting activity continuing and market liquidity improving, Mahindra expects demand conditions to remain supportive in the months ahead.
