Mahindra reports 5% growth in tractor sales, expands Rajasthan portfolio with advanced hydraulics

The company sold 26,990 units in India during July, while also strengthening its offerings with tractors designed for Rajasthan’s farming needs.

INDIA – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Business (FEB) recorded steady growth in July 2025, selling 26,990 tractor units in the Indian market.

This reflects a 5 percent increase compared to 25,587 units sold in July 2024.

The company’s total sales, including exports, reached 28,708 units in July, compared to 27,209 units in the same month last year. Exports contributed 1,718 units, marking a 6 percent growth.

Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business, noted that rural demand supported the positive results. “We have sold 26,990 tractors in the domestic market during the month of July 2025, a growth of 5% over last year. This performance was driven by sustained land preparation activities, supported by robust cash flows in rural markets following the conclusion of Rabi crop harvesting.”

“Additionally, the normal progression of monsoon across most regions further contributed to good demand during the onset of sowing for the Kharif season. In the exports market, we have sold 1,718 tractors, a growth of 6% over last year,” he said.

Between April and July 2025, Mahindra sold 156,189 units in India, up from 142,517 units during the same period last year. Exports for the four months stood at 6,608 units, compared to 6,159 units last year. The combined total of 162,797 units represents a 9 percent rise year-on-year.

Analysts say Mahindra’s strong performance reflects consistent demand from farmers preparing for the Kharif season and steady market activity supported by favorable rainfall patterns.

The numbers also highlight Mahindra’s ability to maintain its leadership in the tractor segment, a position it has held for decades.

Focus on Rajasthan with new tractor range

Alongside reporting its July sales, Mahindra introduced a locally made tractor range featuring its advanced mLIFT Precision Hydraulic System. The models are produced at the company’s Jaipur facility and designed to meet both farming and non-farming requirements in Rajasthan.

The mLIFT system includes load-sensing controls, variable displacement pumps, and electronic systems that allow farmers to perform land preparation and seeding more efficiently.

According to the company, the new technology ensures smoother operations and greater accuracy in tasks such as uniform depth control.

These tractors include the Mahindra 275 DI XP Plus, 475 DI MS XP Plus, and 575 DI XP Plus, all of which come with a six-year standard warranty that covers the mLIFT system.

Mahindra says the models are equipped for long working hours, higher stability in haulage, and better fuel efficiency under local conditions.

The Jaipur plant, which began operations in 2002, manufactures 40 tractor variants and has rolled out more than 350,000 tractors and transmissions so far. With an annual capacity of 54,000 units, it remains a key facility for Mahindra in serving both domestic and international markets.

Mahindra, which first entered the tractor business in 1963, has since grown into the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, with a footprint in more than 50 countries.

Its ongoing sales growth and product expansion reflect continued investment in both local and global farming markets.
