The investment aims to boost jobs and farming incomes while strengthening the state’s industrial base.

INDIA – McCain Foods has announced plans to invest USD 480 million to set up the largest food processing plant in Madhya Pradesh.
The company confirmed the move after a meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on July 3, attended by top state officials and senior McCain executives.
Pierre Danet, Regional President (APACSA), and Mainak Dhar, Managing Director of McCain India, led the discussions with the state government.
The meeting also brought in Shri Raghwendra Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary for Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, and Shri Chandramauli Shukla, Managing Director of MP Industrial Development Corporation.
The project carries a total value of INR 4,000 crore (USD 480 million) and will roll out in three phases. The first phase alone, valued at INR 1,500–1,800 crore (USD 180–216 million), is expected to create direct employment for more than 600 people and indirect opportunities for around 1,500 others.
Speaking after the agreement, McCain representatives stressed the importance of state support. “The investment will not only create employment opportunities but also provide long-term support to the farming community in Madhya Pradesh,” the company said in a statement.
Benefits for farmers
The plant is set to change the rural economy of the state. More than 20,000 farmers will be linked through contract farming arrangements. This will allow them to access modern growing methods, training, and stable markets for their produce.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav welcomed the announcement, saying it will bring lasting benefits to both industry and agriculture in the region. He praised the collaboration, noting that projects of this scale help strengthen the overall economy of Madhya Pradesh.
Mainak Dhar highlighted the company’s commitment to long-term partnerships with local growers. He noted that contract farming would give farmers a reliable income while helping McCain secure consistent supplies of quality raw material.
Wider push for industrial development
This investment comes as Madhya Pradesh steps up its efforts to attract major industrial projects. The state has already seen a rise in large-scale commitments across sectors.
Officials say such projects will provide jobs, create value chains, and encourage more private investment in rural areas.
In recent months, the government has worked closely with industry leaders to expand infrastructure and promote Madhya Pradesh as a business-friendly state.
Shri Raghwendra Kumar Singh pointed out that the partnership with McCain shows the state’s readiness to support global companies.
With work on the first phase set to begin soon, both the state and McCain Foods view the project as a long-term step toward stronger rural incomes and wider industrial growth.
