Morocco highlights farm produce and trade ties at Berlin Green Week 2026

Morocco marked its eleventh year at Berlin’s International Green Week by presenting local farm goods and signing a new agriculture agreement with Poland.

MOROCCO – Morocco opened its national pavilion today at the International Green Week in Berlin, which runs from January 16 to 25 and draws global attention to agriculture, food, and rural development.

The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, led the inauguration ceremony in the German capital. Germany’s Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity, Alois Georg Josef Rainer, attended the event alongside representatives from the Moroccan Embassy in Germany and sector professionals.

The Moroccan pavilion brings together about 20 stands, each representing a cooperative from one of the country’s 12 regions. The displays focus on local farm products that reflect Morocco’s diverse climates and production systems. Visitors can view and taste a wide range of goods while following cooking demonstrations and cultural activities.

The Ministry of Agriculture said the pavilion offers visitors “a full immersion into Moroccan gastronomy and traditions.” The ministry added that the products on display meet international rules on quality, food safety, and traceability, with a clear focus on authenticity and traditional skills.

Talks with partners on food and climate

On the sidelines of Green Week and the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture, El Bouari met several international counterparts to discuss shared priorities. These included meetings with Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Stefan Krajewski, and the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Angela Eagle.

According to the ministry, the talks covered cooperation in agriculture, agri food industries, food security, water management, and climate change adaptation. Officials from all sides stressed the need for steady exchange on policy and technical support, especially as climate pressure affects farm systems in many regions.

Morocco and Poland sign cooperation agreement

The meeting with the Polish delegation ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement sets a framework for closer cooperation in animal health and the sanitary safety of animal products. A ministry statement said the MoU aims to improve information sharing and joint work between the two countries’ technical services.

International Green Week, first held in 1926, ranks among the world’s best known exhibitions for agriculture, food, and horticulture. Morocco’s continued presence at the event reflects its push to expand market access for local producers while strengthening official ties with European partners through regular dialogue and formal agreements.
