SOUTH AFRICA – MyEasyFarm, a leading regenerative AgTech startup, has joined forces with Anthesis Group, a global sustainable performance consultancy, to scale the AgriCarbon programme digitally in South Africa.
The collaboration seeks to improve data management, transparency, and scalability within one of the continent’s most advanced carbon farming initiatives.
AgriCarbon is Africa’s first project and only the second worldwide to earn certification under Verra’s VM0042 Agricultural Land Management methodology. This internationally recognized standard provides robust monitoring, reporting, and verification for carbon credits generated through better land management.
Since launching in 2021, the programme has issued 39,207 tonnes of carbon credits, engaged 29 farmers, and covered 17,582 hectares of agricultural land. Over a three-year monitoring period, it collected more than 70,000 unique data points.
“AgriCarbon shows that regenerative agriculture can create measurable environmental benefits while providing new revenue streams for farmers,” said a spokesperson for MyEasyFarm. “Our partnership with Anthesis ensures that the programme remains transparent, data-driven, and scalable as more farmers join.”
The collaboration leverages MyEasyFarm’s MyEasyCarbon platform to support AgriCarbon’s operational and compliance needs. The platform streamlines data collection and monitoring while tracking changes in regenerative practices. This approach strengthens efficiency, accuracy, and transparency for both farmers and programme stakeholders.
“Digital tools like MyEasyCarbon allow us to maintain high standards in data integrity and reporting, which increases trust in the carbon credits issued,” explained an Anthesis Group representative.
Growing opportunities for farmers and carbon markets
With more than 200,000 hectares already enrolled, AgriCarbon is well positioned for further growth. The partnership ensures smoother farmer participation, consistent data quality, and greater confidence in verified carbon credits.
In a related development, MyEasyFarm recently announced plans to expand its digital platform to additional African countries, aiming to bring carbon farming and regenerative practices to a wider range of smallholder farmers. This step aligns with the growing demand for verified carbon credits in global markets and highlights South Africa’s leadership in climate-smart agriculture.
“Our goal is to make carbon farming accessible to more farmers while providing verifiable environmental benefits,” said MyEasyFarm’s spokesperson. “Technology and data play a key role in achieving this goal efficiently.”
The partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing high-integrity carbon farming in Africa, showing how technology and sustainable agriculture can work together to support farmers and the planet.
