OCP Nutricrops hits 5M tonne milestone in TSP fertilizer output

The company credits its Jorf Lasfar-based TSP Hub and industrial flexibility for meeting rising global demand.

MOROCCO – OCP Nutricrops, a subsidiary of Morocco’s OCP Group, has surpassed the five million tonne mark in the production of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) fertilizer, reinforcing its role as a key player in the global agricultural input sector.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the company attributed the achievement to the success of its TSP Hub initiative, operated from the Jorf Lasfar industrial platform.

The program, led by the Manufacturing SBU alongside OCP Nutricrops, OFAS, and JESA, was designed to meet specific soil and crop needs through fast, precise fertilizer production.

The Jorf Lasfar facility includes two production lines, each with a capacity of 500,000 tonnes annually. The company said the hub uses unconventional water resources, aligning with OCP Group’s wider sustainability efforts.

TSP fertilizer remains a preferred choice in nutrient-deficient areas due to its high phosphorus content. According to OCP Nutricrops, the fertilizer contains over 90% of phosphorus in a plant-available form, which suits smart fertilization methods.

“The TSP Hub represents a major step in our phosphate fertilizer production strategy,” said Youssef El Bari, CEO of OCP Nutricrops. “It strengthens the group’s ability to deliver high agnostic value fertilizers that meet the specific needs of soil and farmers across the world.”

El Bari added that the facility “enhances the group’s industrial precision, performance, and capacity.”

Ahmed Mahrou, Managing Director of the Manufacturing SBU, also spoke on the program’s broader goal of transforming industrial operations to better address changing farming conditions.

“It marks the emergence of an ambidextrous, agile, and customer-focused industrial model, where the production tool becomes a strategic lever,” he said.

Mahrou emphasized the SBU’s focus on delivering more custom-made fertilizer solutions to meet increasingly varied agricultural needs.

“This dynamic illustrates our commitment to putting industrial performance – in flexibility, capacity, and adaptability – at the service of sustainable value creation,” he added.

Expanding fertilizer solutions for global partners

OCP Nutricrops also shared that it is working on a new program to adapt nitrogen fertilizer production. This effort involves upgrading existing systems and installing new equipment to increase TSP output.

The announcement comes just weeks after the company signed a deal with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Cooperation (BADC) to supply 1.1 million tonnes of non-urea fertilizers between 2025 and 2026.

The agreement took shape during an official visit by a Bangladeshi delegation to Morocco.

“By providing tailored fertilizers and promoting their responsible use, this partnership reflects a shared vision to strengthen the foundations of a self-sufficient agricultural future for Bangladesh, grounded in science, innovation, and sustainable collaboration,” read a joint statement from both parties.

El Bari reaffirmed the company’s goals, stating the agreement aligns with OCP Nutricrops’ wider mission. “The agreement is part of the company’s commitment to sustainable agriculture,” he said.
