The agreement brings advanced recyclable tray systems to North Africa’s fresh produce sector.

MOROCCO – Siropack Italia has signed a multi-year, exclusive commercial agreement with Offset Polyplast, a plastics packaging firm based in Casablanca.
The move marks the Italian company’s first major expansion into the North African market and solidifies a key relationship between two players in the global food packaging industry.
Siropack, headquartered in Cesenatico, Emilia-Romagna, manufactures machines and software for food and pharmaceutical packaging.
Offset Polyplast specializes in producing polypropylene and polystyrene sheets, as well as packaging for the dairy and food industries through injection moulding.
The deal was finalized during a recent meeting at Siropack’s headquarters between Offset Polyplast CEO Mamoun Marrakchi and R&D Director Samira Benhida, and Siropack owners Rocco De Lucia and Barbara Burioli.
The agreement gives Offset Polyplast the exclusive right to sell Siropack’s tray machines that apply blotting paper to fruit and vegetable packaging across Morocco.
Meeting market needs and environmental goals
“Morocco is a rapidly expanding country,” said Siropack owner Rocco De Lucia. “Being chosen by a major company like Offset Polyplast as a strategic partner for supplying high-tech machinery in the coming years is an important step for our positioning in the international market. Thanks to this agreement, we now have a presence on the African continent as well.”
De Lucia added that Siropack’s equipment has played a leading role in food packaging for two decades. “Thanks to our supply of multiple systems, including offline machines that apply blotting paper and bubble wrap and machines that glue or seal any type of blotting paper to the bottom of meat/fish trays and fruit baskets, we have acquired a pioneering role in the packaging and tray preparation sector,” he explained.
“These systems can also customize products with handles, labels on the sides or bottom, and laser coding.”
He also highlighted that Siropack’s offline machines can apply paper, cutlery, and labels to containers and glasses, while in-line machines can handle meat and fruit trays.
These machines come equipped with printers that apply information directly to labels.
A strong push for sustainability and market reach
Through this partnership, Offset Polyplast will implement Siropack’s RESPECT technology to produce fully recyclable food packaging in Morocco.
The move supports the country’s national targets under Plan Maroc Vert and Génération Green, both of which aim to improve environmental practices and reduce waste in the agriculture sector. It also aligns with broader EU and African sustainability rules.
With this exclusive access to Siropack’s patented systems, Offset Polyplast now has an edge in expanding to other Francophone African countries and potentially reaching EU export markets.
The partnership is also expected to help reduce plastic waste and improve recycling rates across the region.
Meanwhile, Siropack continues to file patents for its RESPECT system in North American countries, showing the company’s commitment to advancing packaging technologies on multiple continents.
As the global biodegradable packaging market grows at over 8 percent annually, and the broader market is projected to reach over USD 7 billion by 2030, this agreement puts both companies in a strong position to meet future demand.
