The “AvoExperts” strike Gold and Silver at South Africa’s new industry awards platform.

SOUTH AFRICA – Westfalia Fruit has claimed top honours at the inaugural South African Food and Beverage Awards 2025, earning two Gold and two Silver awards for its avocado oil products.
The awards, presented in partnership with the Aurora International Taste Challenge (AITC), recognise food products in South Africa that meet high standards in taste and quality.
Westfalia’s Lemon Flavoured Avocado Oil and the Lemon Variant each earned Gold, while its Garlic Flavoured and Plain Avocado Oils secured Silver Certificates.
“This success reflects the passion and hard work of our entire team,” said Hans Boyum, Customer Director at Westfalia Fruit. “It’s a proud moment that validates our shared vision of bringing world-class avocado products to our customers. It reaffirms our commitment to quality and innovation.”
Westfalia Fruit is known worldwide for its expertise in growing, sourcing, and processing avocados.
Its product range includes not only the award-winning oils but also frozen avocado, dried fruit, and guacamole with low preservatives. All Westfalia avocado oils are endorsed by the Heart Foundation of South Africa, highlighting their alignment with healthy eating habits.
Raising the bar for avocado products
Westfalia’s recognition at the SA F&B Awards marks an important achievement for the company as it continues to expand its global footprint.
According to Boyum, “We are incredibly proud of our award-winning oils, which exemplify the quality and care that define our entire product range. This recognition strengthens our belief in the value we bring to our customers through consistent excellence. As a responsible corporate citizen, we remain committed to promoting sustainable agricultural practices and uplifting the communities we serve.”
The SA F&B Awards aim to guide consumers toward informed purchase decisions by spotlighting exceptional food and beverage products.
Judging is conducted by independent chefs, sommeliers, and food experts. Winners receive Silver, Gold, or Double Gold recognition and gain the right to display the award logo on packaging and promotional materials for three years.
Focus expands beyond avocados
The 2025 event also shone a light on other key categories such as meat, dairy, oils, and beverages. South African favourites like biltong and boerewors shared the stage with olive oils, teas, and dairy products.
Although the full list of winners is yet to be made public, organisers have confirmed that products were judged for both taste and overall quality.
The SA F&B Awards were created to support local producers, promote export readiness, and build consumer confidence in South African food products.
The collaboration with the AITC allows participants to compete on both local and global stages.
Westfalia’s strong showing this year sets a high standard, not just in the avocado segment but across the entire category of health-focused food products.
As South Africa positions itself as a leader in food quality, producers like Westfalia Fruit are proving that consistency, care, and customer focus can make a lasting difference.
