Collaboration focuses on improving herbicide efficiency and reducing chemical use in farming.

UK – Gowan Company has announced a research collaboration with UK-based Moa Technology Limited to advance crop protection solutions for farmers worldwide.
The partnership brings together Gowan’s expertise in herbicide technology with Moa’s innovative “amplifier” compounds that could reduce the amount of herbicides farmers need to use.
The two companies say their combined efforts aim to improve herbicide performance, lower application rates, and manage weed resistance more effectively.
“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting new project with Moa. This collaboration holds potential for groundbreaking scientific advancements in agriculture,” said Laurent Cornette, Global Herbicide Asset Manager at Gowan. “Together with Moa’s scientists, we’re pioneering innovative solutions for highly efficient weed control at minimal active ingredient rates, empowering farmers with sustainable tools for the future. The possibilities are inspiring, and I have no doubt this partnership will drive transformative benefits for the agricultural community.”
Moa’s scientists developed the amplifier molecules, which are not herbicides on their own. When combined with existing herbicides, these compounds may allow farmers to achieve the same level of weed control using lower doses.
This could help reduce environmental impact while ensuring reliable results in the field.
Moa CEO Dr. Virginia Corless said: “We are excited to discover this entirely new category of weed control solutions to help solve a real and immediate problem for farmers and the environment globally. It is also pleasing to see our groundbreaking technology platforms and proprietary data continually producing valuable new insights and discoveries at the forefront of plant science, creating new opportunities, solutions, and revenue streams for ourselves and ambitious and forward-looking industry partners like Gowan.”
Commitment to research and sustainability
The collaboration marks another step in Gowan’s commitment to sustainable farming and long-term innovation. Company leaders say they are focusing research investments on projects that create lasting value for growers while supporting responsible land use.
Gowan Company, based in Yuma, Arizona, develops and markets crop protection products, seeds, and fertilizers.
The family-owned firm emphasizes product development, farmer support, and responsible agriculture practices through its affiliate, Gowan Crop Protection Ltd.
The announcement follows other recent developments in the industry, including new efforts to expand research on resistance management strategies and the exploration of products designed to meet stricter environmental standards in Europe and North America.
These moves reflect the growing demand for solutions that help farmers stay productive while addressing global challenges in agriculture.
With Moa Technology, Gowan says it hopes to deliver products that combine effectiveness with sustainability, strengthening the options available to farmers who face increasing pressure to grow more with fewer resources.
