Kroeker Farms confirms CEO transition as Wayne Rempel moves to Senior Advisor

The company names Harwin Bouwman as the next CEO as it strengthens long-term leadership plans.

CANADA – Kroeker Farms has confirmed a leadership change that brings a new phase for one of Canada’s largest potato growers.

CEO Wayne Rempel will step into the role of Senior Advisor, while Chief Operating Officer Harwin Bouwman will take over as CEO on December 1, 2025. The company views this change as part of its long-term plan to grow its leadership team and support future expansion.

Rempel joined Kroeker Farms in 1988 and took the CEO role in 2002. He guided the company through steady growth while supporting investments in sustainability, organic production, and new farming methods. These moves helped Kroeker Farms grow into one of Canada’s top producers of table potatoes, organic potatoes, hemp, and seed potatoes.

Rempel shared his thoughts on the transition and expressed confidence in the incoming CEO. “Leading this organization has been an honour. Our mission to meet people’s needs through innovative agriculture, in a way that honours God, has guided every decision. Harwin is a strong, capable leader who carries this mission deeply. I look forward to serving the team in a new capacity.”

His new role will involve close support for both the CEO and the Board as the company advances its next round of projects and investments.

Harwin Bouwman steps in as CEO

Bouwman has served as COO, where he led operations, agronomy programs, and major facility improvements. Staff members describe his leadership style as open, steady, and supportive of teamwork. He enters the CEO role with a focus on continuity and growth.

Bouwman expressed his gratitude as he prepares for the new position. “I’m grateful for Wayne’s mentorship and the confidence placed in me by the Board. Our team is exceptional, and together we will continue building on a legacy of stewardship, innovation, and service to our customers and community.”

Kroeker Farms continues to hold the value of “Immer Besser,” which means “Always Better,” at the centre of its work culture. Rempel helped anchor this principle in the company, and Bouwman plans to carry it forward as he leads the next stage of development.

The company has also confirmed progress in several internal projects tied to the shift in leadership. These include ongoing upgrades to processing facilities and new investments in organic production units. Kroeker Farms has also finalized plans for technology improvements across its operations. The budget for these updates stands at CAD 4 million (approx US$2.9 million).

As the leadership handover approaches, both Rempel and Bouwman continue to work closely to support a smooth shift. The company expects the change to strengthen its long-term direction while keeping its long-held mission at the centre of its decisions.

This transition marks an important moment for Kroeker Farms as it moves into its next chapter with stable guidance and a clearly defined plan for the years ahead.
