Morocco sets new export records for avocados, pumpkins and blueberries in 2025

Rising demand from Germany, France and Canada drives Morocco’s strong fruit and vegetable export season.

MOROCCO – Morocco has achieved new export milestones for avocados, pumpkins and blueberries, strengthening its place among top global suppliers of fresh produce.

The EastFruit platform, which tracks trends in the fruit and vegetable trade, reported sharp increases across all three crops during the 2024–2025 season.

Between November 2024 and August 2025, Morocco shipped 19,600 tons of avocados to Germany, earning around US$80 million. This is double the amount exported in the previous season and six times more than in 2021–2022.

“The German market has become one of the most dynamic destinations for Moroccan avocados,” the report stated. The growing appeal of Moroccan produce has encouraged farmers to expand avocado cultivation, supported by improved logistics and better access to European buyers.

Pumpkin exports also climbed as Moroccan producers sent nearly 1,700 tons to France, valued at US$1.75 million, during the same period. This represents a 32 percent increase from last season and nearly twice the amount shipped in 2022–2023.

“Morocco continues to build a steady presence in the French market,” EastFruit noted. This marks the third straight year of growth for pumpkin exports, confirming rising trust in the quality and consistency of Moroccan supply.

Blueberries see rapid growth in Canada

The most striking performance came from blueberries. From July 2024 to June 2025, Morocco exported 1,900 tons of blueberries to Canada, worth over US$19 million. This figure is almost double that of the previous season and seventeen times higher than three years ago.

“Blueberries are now among the fastest-growing export products in Morocco’s agricultural trade,” the analysis said. The average annual growth rate reached 160 percent, setting a new record in trade between Morocco and Canada.

The surge in export performance reflects broader success in Morocco’s fruit and vegetable industry. Farmers and exporters continue to invest in quality control, sustainable production, and market diversification.

Local agricultural agencies have also strengthened support programs for producers entering new export markets.

“Morocco’s progress in international markets highlights the resilience and adaptability of its growers,” EastFruit concluded.

As the 2025 season closes, Morocco’s performance in avocados, pumpkins, and blueberries confirms a strong trend of growth and market confidence that could inspire similar results in other produce categories next year.
