Syngenta Group retains top spot as World’s leading agricultural employer for ninth year

Company also ranks sixth across all industries globally, reinforcing its standing in science and innovation.

SWITZERLAND – Syngenta Group has once again been recognized as the world’s leading agricultural employer in Science magazine’s 2025 Top Employers Survey.

This marks the ninth consecutive year the company has claimed the top position, confirming its strong reputation in science and innovation. It also secured sixth place across all industries worldwide.

“We are delighted to be named the world’s number one agricultural employer,” said Trevor Hohls, Head of Seeds Research & Development. “At Syngenta, our culture thrives on collaboration and diverse perspectives, creating an environment where curiosity drives innovation and employees are empowered to challenge conventions while supporting each other’s growth. We unite across regions and functions with a people-first approach that balances accountability with flexibility, all guided by our shared commitment to helping farmers succeed.”

Hohls added that Syngenta continues to invest in research and technology that empower farmers to grow more efficiently while protecting natural ecosystems.

“We continue to push the boundaries of science and technology to catalyze agricultural innovation, using sophisticated data analytics to develop solutions for the complex challenges in global food production,” he said.

Recognition rooted in sustainable innovation

“It is an honor to be recognized again by our employees as a top employer worldwide,” said Camilla Corsi, Head of Crop Protection R&D. “At Syngenta, we drive agricultural innovation, developing sustainable solutions that address farmers’ most pressing challenges. Employing cutting-edge science, digital technologies, and deep agronomic expertise, we are delivering breakthrough products and services that enhance crop productivity, protect biodiversity, and help ensure global food security in the face of climate change.”

Corsi noted that the recognition by Science magazine reflects the company’s dedication to its workforce and its mission to advance sustainable agriculture. “Science Magazine’s recognition confirms our leadership in agricultural science. Through the combination of exceptional talent, the latest technologies, and collaborative partnerships, we continue to deliver innovations that empower farmers everywhere,” she said.

Strategic partnership strengthens food security

The announcement comes just a week after Syngenta entered a strategic partnership with the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) to promote sustainable farming and strengthen global food security.

The two companies signed a Letter of Intent in Basel, Switzerland, outlining plans to enhance crop yields, improve soil health, and manage water resources efficiently. Their collaboration will focus on soil health, digital agriculture, crop protection, and farmer training.

Suliman Al-Rumeih, Group CEO of SALIC, said the partnership marked a major step toward responsible innovation. “This partnership with Syngenta demonstrates SALIC’s dedication to sustainability and international collaboration,” he said.

“By merging technology, expertise, and ethical farming practices, we aim to empower farmers, preserve natural resources, and strengthen global food systems.”

Alexander Berkovskiy, Regional Director for AMEA at Syngenta, added: “Together, we will drive transformation in agriculture building resilient systems through innovation, education, and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring food that is safe, nutritious, and affordable for all.”

By combining investment and innovation, Syngenta and SALIC aim to create systems that support both smallholders and large producers. As Al-Rumeih emphasized, “Empowering farmers is the foundation for a secure and sustainable food future.”
