TOMRA, Masgcor mark 15 years of growth across Southern Africa

The two companies strengthen their long-running partnership as they help fruit growers adopt new sorting technology.

SOUTH AFRICA – TOMRA Food and Masgcor-CSESA marked 15 years of working together across Southern Africa as the companies continue to support fruit producers with sorting and grading technology.

The partnership covers South Africa and several neighboring countries, including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, and Angola.

The two companies first joined forces in 2011. Since that time, Masgcor has carried out full implementation of TOMRA’s sorting and grading systems. The team handles design, manufacturing, installation, and after-sales support. Their long experience and close contact with producers helped build trust in the region.

Masgcor runs several service centers across South Africa. These centers give fruit producers quick and reliable support, which keeps operations steady during busy harvest periods. This strong presence has helped both companies grow each year.

Harald Henriksen, Executive Vice President and Head of Tomra Food, praised the partnership. He said, “Masgcor is more than a distributor; they are an extension of TOMRA’s values and vision in Africa. Their dedication to quality, service, and innovation has been instrumental in our shared success.”

Advancing citrus sorting technology

In 2025, Masgcor helped introduce two TOMRA technologies for the citrus market: LUCAi and a pregrading application. These tools help producers manage fruit quality with more accuracy and less waste. LUCAi uses deep learning features to sort fruit with improved precision, while the pregrading tool allows producers to remove unsuitable fruit at an earlier stage.

The companies aligned their goals as they worked with citrus packhouses to bring the technology into daily use. This effort supports fruit exporters as they respond to stricter market standards.

TOMRA congratulated Masgcor on reaching the 15-year mark and shared confidence in the road ahead. Both teams plan to keep working on smart solutions that support farmers and packhouses across the region. They aim to deliver systems that help producers work more efficiently in a market that changes often.

Recent developments include expanded support services and new updates to existing sorting platforms. These updates give producers improved accuracy and reduced downtime. TOMRA stated that these changes help farmers and packhouses cut losses and increase overall returns.

TOMRA and Masgcor will continue to offer these services across Southern Africa as more producers look for reliable sorting technology. Their shared commitment to service and quality sets the tone for the next phase of this partnership.
